Abstract:

“This study examines the impact of a multimedia-based teacher training program on the development of musical skills and Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) among rural music teachers in Fujian, China. Using a mixed-method experimental design, 46 music teachers from primary and secondary schools participated in a structured multimedia-based training program (experimental group), while 30 teachers received independent access to digital devices and content without structured training (control group). Pre- and post-tests measured changes across six dimensions of TPACK. Semi-structured interviews provided qualitative insight into participants’ perceptions of program effectiveness. Results indicate that the multimedia-based training program significantly enhanced TPACK development across all six dimensions compared to the control group, with particularly notable gains in technological pedagogical knowledge (TPK) and technological content knowledge (TCK). The study supports multimedia learning as an effective approach for building TPACK in rural teacher education contexts.”
