Young, J. (2025). Teacher support and professional development needs in a new virtual academy [Doctoral dissertation, Clemson University]. Open@Clemson. https://open.clemson.edu/all_dissertations/3882

Abstract:

“In this study, the fundamental purpose of viewing needed professional development and support for FVA through the TPACK framework was to better understand the knowledge that teachers need to use technology effectively for teaching and learning. This qualitative case study explored the professional development and support needs of K–12 teachers at a newly established virtual academy (FVA). Through semi-structured interviews with nine FVA teachers, themes emerged around technology integration, pedagogical approaches, and content-specific challenges. Findings revealed gaps in systematic PD offerings and support structures, suggesting a need for targeted TPACK-aligned professional development.”
